Tourism Accommodation Incentive Scheme – National Quality Assurance Standards Scheme
Stroud District
Stroud District Council are keen for local tourist accommodation businesses to be seen as high quality establishments both nationally and internationally.
One of the most recognised Quality Assurance Schemes offered in the UK is the National Quality Assurance Scheme run on behalf of Visit Britain by Quality in Tourism.
Stroud District Council are offering grants towards the cost of applying for this Scheme. This means that non-graded accommodation businesses in the Stroud District area can apply for a grant over a two year period.
Funding for this initiative is provided via the Stroud Local Strategic Partnership. The Council will commit to funding applications on a “first received” basis to ensure each business has an equal chance of attaining accreditation under the Scheme.
The closing date for applications is 21st September 2007
Grant guidelines and forms are available on the Stroud District Council Tourism web site www.visitthecotswolds.org.uk/grants or by contacting Council’s Regeneration Officer (Tourism), Shirley Wood on shirley.wood@stroud.gov.uk
Forest of Dean District
A grant of 50% is available to Forest of Dean establishments wishing to take part in the harmonised quality assurance scheme operated by Quality in Tourism, the AA or Wales Tourist Board. Successful applicants will be awarded up to 50% of the annual inspection scheme and joining fee.
The scheme offers establishments the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised grading, with which all visitors will associate high levels of quality.
One of the biggest advantages in becoming inspected is the increased profile that businesses will receive. At present, many public sector bodies, including South West Tourism and Forest of Dean District Council, operate a policy of only promoting inspected properties in their marketing literature and at tourist information centres.
